Japanese bronze Temple Buddha. Very thick heavy,(300 pounds plus) bronze cast collected at a Taikai auction in Kyoto. I believe the hand positions are The abhaya mudra - The gesture symbolizes peace and friendship and denotes the acts of pacification, reassurance of protection. It is very rare to see authentic bronze Buddha's of this size at auction in Japan. Dates around Taisho/ early Showa periods, (1920 to 1940).
Fukurokuju,(God of wisdom and longevity) Ishigami,(Stone naturally enveloped in root wood). Ishigami figures were most revered during the Meiji period,(1868-1912) by Zen Buddhist monks.
Japanese Suishou,( Rock crystal, High purity quartz ), Handcarved Kannon,( Goddess of mercy., Protector of children ) in original box. Was among the many Buddhist Temple objects that showed up at todays auction.
