Japanese bronze Temple Buddha.
Very thick heavy,(300 pounds plus) bronze cast collected at a Taikai auction in Kyoto. I believe the hand positions are The abhaya mudra - The gesture symbolizes peace and friendship and denotes the acts of pacification, reassurance of protection.
It is very rare to see authentic bronze Buddha's of this size at auction in Japan.
Dates around Taisho/ early Showa periods, (1920 to 1940).
