Bought this rug from a family in Chamdo, Tibet (remote eastern Tibet).They told me it was a birth rug. Not sure what that meant (if anyone knows out there please e-mail me). I do know it has Arab influence in design. It is 100% Tibetan sheep's wool and was cut in half during the cultural revolution (two Chinese families moved into this wealthy Tibetan home and split the rug between them).Sad story, couldn't find the other half.
